Kathryn Hendershot Beatty, 95, died Monday, October 2, 2023 at her home in Powell, Ohio with family at her side. She was born November 2, 1927 in Malaga, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harvey D. and Louise Leach Hendershot. She was a wonderful, loving, caring and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister, and a friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert G Beatty in 2015, daughter, Barbara Sue Beatty in 1958, son-in-law Jeffery J. Capraro in 2016, two brothers Wilfred Hendershot, and Donald Hendershot, three sisters Virginia Norman, Jeanette Gates, and Lucille Woodburn. She was the last of her generation.
After graduating from Beallsville High School, Kathryn moved to Columbus to attend the Columbus Business University. It was here she met her future husband Robert; they married in 1948 in her mother's Malaga home.
Surviving are her children Cheryl Capraro of Powell, Sandra (Robert) Metzler of Gahanna, Robert A (Beth) Beatty of Powell with whom she made her home, and Craig S (Cheryl) Beatty of Camas, WA; her grandchildren Robert C (Jennifer) Beatty of Plain City, Christopher Beatty of Dublin, Zachary (Briana) Beatty of Honolulu, HI, Christin Beatty of Dublin, Sarah (Travis) Nagatani of Hawaii, Justin Beatty, Jessica Beatty and Julia Beatty of Camas WA; and great grandchildren Robbie Beatty and Matthew Beatty of Plain City, and Theo Nagatani of Hawaii. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves behind her fur babies Buddy, Miko, Mila and Lincoln who always let her know when it was food or treat time.
Kathryn was a long-time member of the Beechwold Christian Church where she and her husband participated in many group activities from potlucks to road trips. She worked at Sears at the Northland Mall for many years and could tell you anything about jewelry while replacing your watchband. She made numerous friends while there and participated in luncheons and dinners as an employee, then as a retiree. After retirement she worked at Anthony Thomas Candies.
Friends and family will be received from 10am to 11am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Newcomer, Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231. A Service to honor her life will be held at 11am, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, also at the Newcomer, Northeast Chapel. Burial to follow at roughly 12:30 pm, Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
