Kathryn (Kathy) Jean Posani Thompson, age 69, of Westerville, Ohio, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on January 22, 2024 after a long battle with illness. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. Kathy touched many lives with her kindness and devotion to others.

Kathy was born on October 2, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio to Camillus and Marion (Wagner) Posani.

Kathy attended St. James the Less Catholic School and graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 1972. She attended Riverside Nursing School from 1973-1975.

Kathy worked at The Ohio State University Hospitals and then found her calling in education, working as a teacher's aide for the Franklin County Board of MRDD and then St. Paul Elementary School. She also worked at the ACE After School Program at St. Paul Elementary School. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Church and their Contemporary Choir, her second family.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael J. Thompson; daughter Katie (Andy) Tracewell; daughter Becky Thompson; granddaughters Evelyn and Amelia Tracewell; mother Marion (Jack) Russell; siblings Karol (Mark) Burnett; Jim (Linda) Posani; Thom (Brenda) Posani; and many more family and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father Camillus Posani; paternal grandparents Giovanni and Serafina Posani; and maternal grandparents Arthur and Louise Wagner.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, February 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd., Columbus. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the mass. Interment will take place at a later date.
