Kathy Jo Highfill, age 66, lifelong resident of Columbus, died peacefully on Friday, August 6, 2021, in Ashley, OH, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Kathy was born to Robert and Joella Pennington on July 7, 1955. She attended Marion-Franklin High School, and went on to a distinguished thirty-one year career for the State of Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Robert; son, Steven; sister-in-law, Lois; son-in-law, Greg Johnson; and her beloved fur babies Monique and Livy.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Joella Pennington, her two sons, Brian and Scott (Brittany); her grandchildren, Ashton and Fiona; and her siblings, Belinda (John), Lorraine (Clint), Robert (Kim), Arthur, and Patrick (Tammy); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kathy loved being a mom, and spending time with family and friends, good conversation, texting, reading, scratch-offs, and shopping for a good bargain. Kathy's grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021 from 11am until the time of Funeral Service at 1pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH . Interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH.
Kathy was the biggest Buckeye fan on the west side. In her honor, we ask that you please wear your favorite Ohio State/Game Day shirt.
