Kay Francis Penson, born on July 8, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Lewis Center, Ohio. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and friend, known for her spirited personality and loving nature.After graduating from Detroit's Munford High School, Kay married her husband, Issac Donald Penson. This union lasted for over 57 wonderful years. A testament to their deep love and partnership. Together, they raised two cherished children, Issac Donald Jr. and Jill Marie, who were the pride and joys of her life. As a family, they made many cherished memories. Some during the many summers spent at their summer cottage in Canada.
Kay spent her final months at The Avalon of Lewis Center, after suffering from a debilitating stroke. While there, fighting to regain her mobility she continued to share her vibrant energy with those around her.As an avid and passionate bridge player, Kay built a remarkable reputation in the competitive bridge community, participating in numerous tournaments across Ohio, Michigan and numerous other states. Her love for the game was matched only by her enthusiasm for shopping and traveling!Though small in stature, she was a force of nature when it came to defending her loved ones or pursuing her passions. Her sweet nature endeared her to many, and she will be remembered for her infectious spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.Kay's husband, Donald, her children, Donny Jr. and Jill, her parents, John Gregory and Edith Ruby Roundtree and her only brother, Gregory Roundtree, have all preceded her in death.
Kay Francis Penson will be missed dearly by her remaining family, Charles and Carol Penson (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Lauryn, Bryce and Ayden Sanders (niece and nephews), cousins and friends (Karen Wilson, Lee Sherman, Marsha Moore, Patricia Jones, Judy Williamson, Mildred Kemp, Kathy Elliott, and Karen Scott) and an entire army of others who supported her recovery. May you all carry her memory in your hearts forever!
There will be a service for Kay held on January 14, 2025, at The Avalon of Lewis Center at 11am.
