PHILLIPS
Kelly Phillips, 79, of Columbus, was lovingly received in Jesus' open arms on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born on November 11, 1928, in Hazard, KY., Kelly was a U.S. Army and Navy Veteran, in which he proudly served his country for four years. In 1957, at a church function in Dayton , Ohio, he met his loving wife of 49 years, Devonia Christine Tibbs. He worked at County Fair Bakery in Dayton and eventually moved to Columbus in 1967 and was employed by Wonder Bread Bakery and retired after 40+ years. He then began part-time employment for several years at Meijer. Kelly was a member of Church of God on Parsons Avenue where he enjoyed gospel singing. His love of God and dedication to his family were the staples of his life. He is loved, cherished and remembered by countless friends and family. Kelly enjoyed cooking and was especially remembered for his banana pudding. Kelly took pride in his appearance with his naturally full head of dark hair, which most commented, resembled prior President, Ronald Reagan. He is preceded in death by parents, Kelly Phillips, Sr. and Ersie Hurt and sister Virginia Bringam. Survivors include his wife, Devonia Christine Phillips; sons, Darrell Lee Phillips (Ferbie Ann Marcum) of Columbus, OH., and Gregory Allen Phillips (Kathleen) and granddaughter, Kimberly Phillips and grandson, Kelly Phillips of Felton, DE; brothers, Curtis Noble and Jimmy Phillips; sisters Geraldine Napier and Ona Mae Buckner. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 4:00-8:00 PM, at Parsons Avenue Church of God, 3389 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, OH with the service on Thursday, January 3, 2008, 11:00 AM at the church.
