Kenneth Eugene Evans was born March 28th, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late George Evans Sr. and the late Ella Evans. Our Heavenly Father called him home to his heavenly healing on the morning of Monday, September 14, 2015.
Kenny (affectionately known as K.E. to friends) spent his formative years in both Urbancrest and Cincinnati, OH. He was a graduate of Grove City High School class of 1971. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an Administrative Specialist.
Kenny became an apprentice in the Ohio Operating Engineers training program and as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18, went on to pursue a career as a heavy equipment operator working for a variety of road construction companies. After many years as an operating engineer with the Shelley & Sands Construction company he retired in 2013.
Kenny was a dedicated, faithful member of Union Baptist Church where he was involved in several church ministries which included serving as an usher, van driver, Trustee, instructor for the Men's Sunday School class and member of the Deacon board. He loved God, loved his church and wanted to serve God by serving God's people.
His father, George Evans Sr., mother, Ella Marie Evans and sisters, Dorothea Cole and Marilyn Woodward, preceded Kenny in death.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife Toni, son, Marques (Lori), daughters Kenya (Pat) Long and Angela, and his "Best Buddy" grandson Patrick Long, three brothers, George Jr. (Wilda), David (Rita), and Robert, and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A Home Going Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Kenny Evans will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Union Baptist Church Urbancrest, OH.
In lieu of flowers, Kenny's wishes are that donations be made to one of the church ministries that have always been close to his heart: the Union Baptist Church Education Fund or the New House Sanctuary Church Building Fund.
