Kenneth W. Hughes, 84, of Columbus, entered into eternal life on April 13, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Arthur and Mabel (Charles) Hughes in Jackson, Ohio, Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Arthur Hughes; sister, Evelyn Bowman Grotsky. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Meredith (Smallwood) Hughes; daughter, Grace Hughes; granddaughter, Amanda (Kyle) McClafferty; great-granddaughter, Stella McClafferty; sisters, Betty Dunn and Beatrice Franklin; brothers, Harold Hughes, Charles (Donna) Hughes, and Robert (Judy) Hughes; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Kenny was a long time member and 15 year sexton of University Baptist Church, a 50 year member of Lockbourne Masonic Lodge #232, and a WWII veteran. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 5-8PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008, 11:00 AM at University Baptist Church, 50 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Obetz Cemetery.
