Kimberly Ann Barton passed away Monday, May 29th. She had been sitting in her happy place. Kim grew up always wanting to be first, or the best. Not just "for a girl ", but better than anyone!
Boys were NOT better than girls! She was an athlete, competing in gymnastics and track in high school. She later played soccer and volleyball. She always pushed herself to do more and take risks. In 1998 she became a firefighter with the Columbus Fire Department, passing the test on the first try. She was active with the women firefighters, playing hockey and going kayaking.
She loved the outdoors and bought a beautiful wooded lot in Johnstown with her husband, Russ, so she could enjoy the trees, climbing and sitting in the branches. She loved her children fiercely and would do anything for them and her grandchildren. She was known to the grandchildren as Firenana because Grandmas are old and she was not old.
In 2008 she began a new sport, dog agility, with her puppy, Logan. In 2010, they were invited to their first Invitational in Long Beach, CA. They eventually achieved the level of NAC and had many showings as a finalist at the Invitationals, AKC National Championships and USDAA Cynosports Finalist. Family will not forget our Punkin Parties or 4th of July celebrations. Or just sitting around a fire.
Kim leaves behind her beloved dog Logan, daughters Brooklynn Brooks, Brandii Brooks, Brionne Brooks and Heather (Bob) Wilson and her son Xander Barton. Her grandchildren Aaren, Cameron, Corinne, Gavin, Karis, Lincoln, Zinnia, Peyton, Preston, Macson, Millon, Xaylen, Kaycen and Kaycee. Her dogs Epi and Kirin. Her Chris Bailey. Her sister Heidi (Rick) Duff and brother William (Janna) Corfman. Many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Barton, parents John and Carol Corfman, and Sequoia.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8th, 2023 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and Friday, June 9th, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following.
