Krishna Kumari Sharma

Krishna Kumari Sharma, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother (naanima and daadima) passed away on April 14th, 2024, in Columbus, OH, USA. She was 83.

She is survived by her husband, Surendra Sharma, her three children: Sarika (Satish) Sharma, Shelly (Nikesh) Batra, and Akash (Punita) Sharma, as well as nine grandchildren - Natasha, Raashi, Riya, Rohun, Eesha, Simrun, Mira, Bella, and Akshay.

Krishna was born and raised in Ludhiana, Punjab in India. She often recalled a lovely childhood, with loving parents and siblings. After marriage to her husband, Surendra Sharma, she spent time in and around New Delhi, as they started their family and raised their children.

Along with her husband, and with the help of her brother, Ashok Moudgill, Krishna and her family immigrated to the United States in 1986 as she made all efforts to establish a loving and nurturing life for her children. Though she worked hard, Krishna also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Krishna was an amazing cook, passing on her skills to her children and their spouses. She loved her grandchildren beyond measure and made each one feel special.

Krishna was the kindest soul and especially generous to her extended family and friends. She never complained and did almost anything asked of her, sometimes even at the cost of her well-being. But she always smiled and urged us to do our best and never complain about the work ahead of us.

She was social and supportive of her friends, loved music, and was particularly fond of Hindi movies. She enjoyed traveling and told her son that she would much prefer to travel in a sedan than a pickup truck, and he should buy one accordingly. She had a great sense of humor, and an infectious laugh, which sometimes meant that she would start telling a joke and not be able to finish because she was laughing so hard. We always enjoyed that part of her spirit.

Krishna embraced life to the fullest. She was loving, dedicated, generous to a fault, and always surrounded by family. While Parkinson's and recent hospitalizations slowed her down, her zeal for life and sense of humor were still ever-present.

Although her physical life journey ended on the morning of April 14th, 2024, she will forever live in our hearts and minds.

A private funeral and cremation service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 in accordance with Hindu traditions. A visitation period will be held from 2-3 pm US EST, during the pooja ceremony. The services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, Ohio 43065.
