Larry Pete Baker of Columbus, Ohio passed away at the age of 86, on Friday February 25th, 2022.
Larry was born in McVeigh, Kentucky on January 12, 1936, to the late Gertrude (Adair) Venable. He was raised in the hills of Kentucky with the help of his loving grandparents, the late Ransom and Emma Adair. Larry's childhood was filled with love and laughter, and he had fond memories and often spoke of growing up with his cousins and caring for and riding his horses. Larry was proud and honored to be an Adair.
He served in the United States Army from 1960-1964. After he settled in Columbus, Ohio, he worked for the Certified Oil and Gas Company on Harmon Ave until the 1980s. He retired in 2001, from Accurate Fabrication in Columbus after being an employee for many years.
Larry was married to Sandra (Scowden) Baker who passed away in 1989. Together they raised 3 daughters. Larry will be remembered for being an honorable man who was kind, caring, and had a good sense of humor. He loved to cook and show you his love through food. He was an avid fan of college basketball and March madness was his favorite time of year. The University of Kentucky Wildcats will forever be his favorite team.
Larry's pride and joy was his family. Becoming a father and later a grandfather brought him purpose and immense happiness. He adored watching his daughters grow up and create families of their own. Family was everything to Larry. The bond with his three daughters was unimaginable. One of the last things Larry said was how proud he was of the love he had between him and his girls. He left his family with a legacy of love, loyalty, adoration, and will forever be missed.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Sandra, his mother Gertrude, and brother Robert. Larry is survived by his loving and devoted daughters, Patty (Charles), Lori (Michael), and Kimmy (Mark). Grandchildren, Mike (Danielle), Matt (Kellie), Lindsey (Tyler), Megan (Adam), Adelane, and Luke who was born on his grandpa's birthday and affectionately known to him as Little LB. Great Grandchildren, Reegan, Madison, Kady and Callie.
Visitation Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 3-6pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral Service Monday, March 7, 2022 at 12pm at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH. Friends and family will gather after the burial for a time of fellowship; location to be announced after the service.
