Larry "Whitey" Johnson, of Grove City , OH , born October 4, 1937 died suddenly on June 16th, 2008 of a heart attack while staying in Georgia with his daughter and family. Mr. Johnson lived in the Milan & Rock Island, IL when he moved his family to Columbus , OH , in 1974. He is predeceased by his parents, Nancy and Marvin Johnson. He is survived by 5 children, Tammy and Wayne Bohm of Waynesboro, Ga., Tye Johnson of Grove City, OH, Troy Johnson of Temp, AR, Tona and Tom Slagle of Sunbury, OH., Traci Valentine of Waverly, OH and son-in-law Tedd Valentine of Columbus, OH. He is loved by 9 grandchildren, Robert Bohm, Clinton Bohm, Breighn, Morgan, and Taylor Johnson, Taryn Ashcraft, Tommy and Tyler Slagle, Tony Valentine. He has one great-grandson Kaiden West. He has three surviving brothers, Gary of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Bill of Fort Wayne, IN and Jim of Black Mountain, NC. Mr. Johnson was a lifetime owner and truck driver. Mercer Trucking Co., out of Louisville , Ky. was the company he finished his career with. Mr. Johnson was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed many hunting trips to the mountains of Colorado deer hunting, where his ashes will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name should be made to the American Cancer Society 2607 Commons Blvd Augusta , GA 30909 . Visitation will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 6:00PM-9:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City , OH .
