Lavella M. Wilkes 97, of Columbus, went home to be with her Savior on April 6, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, after a brief illness. Lavella was born in Circle Hill, OH, on May 25, 1913, to the late James H and Flossie (Bescoe) Locke. She graduated from Chauncey Dover High School and was a member of the North Free Will Baptist Church in Columbus. Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Q, R. Rex, Fred A. and Larry L Wilkes; sister, Gleneta Locke; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. A Memorial Service, in her honor, will be held on April 17, 2011, 4:00 PM at North Free Will Baptist Church, 3596 Brandon Street, Columbus, OH 43224. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in her honor, may be made to the church.
