Lawrence Edward Jones, a servant of God, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 13, 2025, at the age of 82, after a life dedicated to faith and service. He was born on December 25th, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio
Surviving family includes children, Kimberly (Marty) Roy, Nikki (Chad) Huffman, Dale (Linda) Jones; grandchildren, Diamond (Skylar) Bester, Emmanuel (Moriah) Jones, Nathanael (Taylor) Huffman, Michael (Maddalynn) Huffman, Evan (Rhianna) Jones, Cameron Jones, Jonathan Jones, Faith Roy and great grandchildren, Stevie Jones, Journey Bester, Jream Bester, Lydia Huffman, Samuel Huffman and Hannah Huffman. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Evangelist Joyce Jones and son Chris Jones.
Larry E. Jones, also known as Elder Jones, was saved in August 1968 and has walked with Christ since that date. He was married to his beautiful wife for over 53 years before her passing. Elder Jones was the founder of The Church of the Living God, Apostolic Faith, located in Columbus, Ohio, and served as pastor for 44 years and Bishop and Overseer for the past 5 years.
His Apostolic roots trace back to the Azusa Street Revival, where his grandfather baptized the late Bishop Bowdan along with many others. Elder Jones is the third generation of Apostolic preachers in his family. And his generational legacy will continue through his son Elder Dale Jones and his grandson Elder Nathanael Huffman.
Elder Jones held a Masters degree in Theology. He was a dynamic teacher of the Old Testament with expertise in the books of Psalms and Revelation. He loved teaching about the Tabernacle, Priesthood and would dress up like the High Priest in the Tabernacle. He has authored a book entitled “The Blood Crieth”, which gives insight into sound Biblical teaching and numerology. His commitment to search out the Word of God, brought him to deliver the gospel to life with power, knowledge, wisdom and truth.
He taught at Aenon Bible College for four years and taught at Karl F. Smith Bible Institute in Columbus, Ohio.
He was licensed by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (P.A.W) and held various positions such as District Elder. He was a faithful member and minister in this organization for over 50 years.
During his path of life, with ups and downs, Elder Jones always trusted God all the Way and believed in the Power of Faith!
