Lawrence William Stuts (69), surrounded by his family, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2024, in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Whetstone High School and received a B.A. in Fine Arts from The Ohio State University. Larry retired from the Kroger Company where he was an advertising artist. His entire life was devoted to the arts. From a small child, Larry demonstrated great talent in both music and art. This talent grew throughout his life and eventually embraced the culinary arts. His favorite musicians included Jimi Hendrix, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Joanne Shaw Taylor, B.B. King, Tommy Bolen, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, just to name a few. Larry filled the family home with his artwork ranging from very large composite acrylic canvases to smaller pieces using watercolors, pastels, and pencils. He was also proud to collect and display pieces from many local artists. Larry was a member of several art groups and his artwork earned numerous awards from galleries and art shows. A love of cooking brought much enjoyment and comfort to Larry’s family and friends. Every Christmas Eve he prepared an incredible meal based on another country’s cuisine. The country of choice was always a surprise. Larry’s quick wit brightened his home with unexpected laughter. No subject was off limits. He even eased his family’s pain with humor until the very end.
Preceded in death by his parents George and Elizabeth Stuts (Taylor), and siblings Michael Stuts and Molly Stuts. Larry is survived by his wife Jacqueline Stuts (Rehm), son Taylor C. Stuts, daughter Tyne E. Stuts (Mike Gift), and brother Steven Stuts (Andrea). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and sweet Linus (beagle). Larry was also grateful for his many loving friends and extended family members.
