Lee Eugene Berry, 84, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital following an extended illness. He was born October 11, 1927 in Crescent, OK, son of the late James and Mamie Pearl Berry. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of Amvets and a Mason. Lee retired from Western Wood Products Association. He was a master wood carver and also enjoyed playing golf and spending his winters in the Rio Grand Valley in Texas. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doneta Regan Berry; son, Kelly Berry; daughter, Corby (Jeffrey) Whitesel; adopted daughter, Brenda (Jim) Dunfee; grandchildren, Carla and Chris Channell, James (Missy) Billingsley, Elizabeth Berry, Michelle (Don) Hughes and Nathan (Ayanna) Berry; great grandchildren, Devon, Savannah, Madison, Chase, Shelby, Samantha, Chance, Isaac and Isaiah. Visitation will be Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 11:00-12:00 PM at Maize Road Baptist Church, 4251 Maize Road, Columbus with the memorial service beginning at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Brett Castle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus. Lee was the life of the party always telling jokes and even pulling a few practical jokes here and there. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
