Lee Ellen Thomas

Lee Ellen Scott Thomas was born to the late Henry and Elza Scott on January 17, 1935 in Holly Grove, Arkansas. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with St. Paul A.M.E. Church. She attended Holly Grove Vocational School. She moved to Columbus, Ohio at the age of 17 to live with Aunt Elva Artis. Throughout the years she was a member at Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church. She was a part of the church choir and was a trustee. She retired from Copco Papers.

Lee departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elza Scott; her husband, Albert Thomas; daughter, Barbara Cook Reese; son, Roy Cook; three brothers, Abraham, Willard, and Rev. Wheeler Scott; three sisters, Veester Scott, Gertia Rose Earnest, Beverly Dugger 

She leaves to cherish with fond memory one son, Robert Cook Jr. (Delores) Columbus, Ohio; two granddaughters, Guyanna Reese (Gary) and Passion Reese Columbus, Ohio; three grandsons, Robert Kirk (Tasha), Royshawn Cook, and Marté Cook Columbus, Ohio; sister, Elva Knox Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Scott Lancaster, California; two nieces who she was raised with, Bernetta Todd Columbus, Ohio and Betty Cole Little Rock, Arkansas; 18 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; Special friend of 38 years Susan Pritchett; numerous nieces and nephews; host of friends. 

Immediate Family will greet friends and family from 10am to 11am on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Mt. Vernon Avenue AME Church, 1127 Mt Vernon Ave, Columbus, OH 43203. A Service to honor her life will be held at 11am, also at the Mt. Vernon A venue AME Church. The Newcomer Family is honored to serve the Thomas Family.
