Leland (Dean) Brown, age 93, of Grove City, Ohio passed away on May 8, 2023. He was born on Sept. 15, 1929 in New Straitsville, Ohio to the late Clarence V. Brown and Kathleen (Evans) Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Horace (Toby), sister, Mellie (Sue) Lambert and his first wife Jeanne (Kurtzhalz) Brown.
Dean was raised in Hanover, Ohio and graduated from Hanover/Toboso High School in 1947. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He attended O.S.U. and was a loyal lifetime Buckeyes fan. He was a design engineer at North American Aviation for many years. He began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1972 where he met his wife, Bonnie. They married in 1981 and he retired from USPS in 1992.
Dean loved golf and spent hundreds of hours (and dollars!) trying to perfect it over his lifetime. He also liked to bowl and was a member of the Stardust Seniors League in Grove City. He was a member of G.C. United Methodist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed reading, watching college football, going to the horse races and of course, telling jokes (good or bad!).
He will be truly missed by his loving wife, Bonnie, sons, Dr. C. Jeffrey (Jeanne) Brown and D. Victor (Barb) Brown, granddaughters, Carly and Jaime Brown, niece Patti (Lindsay) Lambert and nephew Michael Lambert. He also leaves behind several cousins and more friends than can be mentioned here, but they know who they are.
Thanks to Monterey Care Center and Bella Care Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care. Dean loved and appreciated all those who cared for him and about him. But he chose not to have a funeral or memorial service, so his wishes will be respected.
