Lella Sanders was born in Roanoke, Indiana, 95 years ago, and went to be with her Lord on November 7, 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe & Phoebe Smith; sister Dorothy Cline, brother Ross Smith; husband of 60 years, Ira Sanders; and her son, Stewart.
She is survived by her daughter Dianne (Dean) Pool of Columbus; daughter-in-law Carole Sanders, grandchildren Maureen (Saul) Almazan, Kirk (Lindsey) Sanders all of Chicago area, Kevin (Ellison) Sanders of New Hampshire, her 100 year old sister, Mae Arledge, of Lakeland, Florida, plus nieces & nephews.
Lella and Ira were founding members of Northwest United Methodist Church in Upper Arlington, where they lived for 30 years. After retiring from the Ohio State University, they moved to Venice, Florida, where they lived 25 years, and attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Lella enjoyed gardening, ceramics, sang in church choirs, taught Sunday School, was a Bible scholar, and a creative writer. Her wit & humor will be missed. We would like to thank the staff from Traditions at Mill Run for the care and support they gave.
Memorial service will be held at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Drive, Upper Arlington, on Saturday, November 12, 2005, 10:00a.m., with calling hours one hour prior. Pastors William Hunter, Harold Davidson & John Hickman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Northwest United Methodist Church.
