Leo A Pyatt

October 20, 1925 — December 14, 2020

Leo A Pyatt 95 of Columbus OH went home to heaven on Dec.14, 2020.

Leo was born in Keyport, New Jersey on Oct. 20, 1925, to the late Ralph and Regina Pyatt. One of 8 siblings, he spent the majority of his childhood growing up on a farm in Philo, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tom (Ralph), Bernard, John, and Joe Pyatt. Sisters Lillian and Rita, wife Geraldine (Gibb) Pyatt, son Steven Pyatt and daughter-in-law Susie.

Leo served in the US Navy during WW2 where he logged 36 combat missions as a Aviation Radioman Second Class with squadron VC-81, flying off of the USS Natoma Bay. One of the youngest to join, he carried the memories of his time in the service and the men he served beside throughout every phase of his life.

Leo married the love of his life Geraldine (Gerry) on May 31, 1947. She was his one and only true love. Together they raised their family in Columbus OH, where they became devout members of St. James the Less Catholic church.

He is survived by his brother Bob Pyatt, sister Margaret, daughter Becky Weaver, grandsons Joe (Tiphanie), Chris (Alicia), Jordan and granddaughter Erin. Great-grandchildren Madison, Ian, Ellie, Evelyn, Grace, Riley, Hannah, Jacob, and Kelsie, and many nieces and nephews.

Leave it to him to bring the fun. His sense of humor was priceless, always looking for a laugh. His charm and quick wit went unmatched. To know him was to love him. Leo was a pillar of strength for his family. One to lean on in times of distress. His strong steady hand guided us through many storms of life. The impact he made and the countless sweet memories he gave us will carry us through until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
