Lesley Ruth Canfield age 45 of Columbus, Ohio formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She left her earthly body while surrounded by her loving Mother and siblings.
Lesley was the sweetest, strongest, most independent baby/toddler/child/teenager/adult to ever grace this planet. She had the most beautiful dimples that anyone who met her never failed to notice or mention. She was an avid The Ohio State University football fan.
At the age of 7 she was diagnosed with insulin dependent Juvenile Diabetes. She refused to let anyone give her the insulin shots as she wanted to do it all by herself, and indeed did so for many years. Lesley started working at the age of 15, and even though declared legally blind at age 18 and having her driver's license taken away due to that, she still insisted on working.
In 2001 she was the blessed recipient of a kidney/pancreas transplant. Even after recovering from this surgery, she still continued working as much as she could up until her transplanted kidney began to fail many years later. Her family had been fighting for the last two years for her to have a live donor, with her two sisters being viable candidates, but further procedures were halted due to the pandemic.
Lesley absolutely loved babies and was the best Aunt that anyone could ever ask for. She cherished each of her nieces and nephews, many of whom she babysat, potty trained, taught to read and write and watched the movies Pretty Woman and The Bodyguard with them until they could recite the movies in their entirety.
Lesley is survived by her precious Mother Sharon Ratliff Davis of Columbus, Ohio. Six siblings; Christopher Canfield, Jeffrey Canfield, Laura Canfield Potter (Dr. David Mays), Bonnie Canfield Fields (Joseph), Robert Winkler, Nicholas (Nicole) Davis. 13 nieces and nephews; Cory (Heather) Canfield and their children Aiden, Noah, Parker, and Oakley; Cassie Canfield and her children Malayah and Harlynn; Jacob Canfield; Chaise Conley and Rylie Potter; Maura Mabry and her children Jai'Zhaun and Jai'Zianna; Laura Mabry and her son Aiden; Christopher Fields and Isaiah Fields; Jocelyn, Elianna, Emmalyn and Madison. She is also survived by close friend DeAndre Bell and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will dearly miss her.
A celebration of Lesley's life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Powell, Ohio on Monday, August 30, 2021. Family and friends may visit from 11am – 1pm with funeral services at 1pm.
