Lester Carney Jr.
April 1, 1927 — February 2, 2013
Lester "Les" M. Carney Jr., 85, of Columbus passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at his residence.
He was born April 1, 1927 in New Lexington, son of the late Lester M. and Agnes Catchpole Carney Sr.
In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Carney, Ruth Moore and Nial Eugene Carney, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Carney.
He served in the Army Medical Corp. during WWII and retired from the Franklin County Treasurers office with over 35 years of service. Les also enjoyed wintering in Florida for the past 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna "Rosemary" Pottmeyer Carney; children, Lawrence Carney, Diane (Randy Gautsche) Woodring and Kevin Carney; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1582 Ferris Rd. Columbus.
Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
