Lester Essig 84 passed away suddenly at his residence in Delaware, Ohio on January 17, 2025. 


Lester was born to Elmer and Mary Essig. He was born and raised in Reese Station, Ohio. 


Lester is preceded in death by his wife Sandy Essig, father Elmer Essig, mother Mary Essig, sister Marilyn Essig, brother Tom Essig, son Jimmy Allman, stepson Chad Harness and son in law Jim Miller. 


He is survived by sister Cathy Humphries; daughters Judy Miller, Peggy (Glenn) Weber; Step Children, Roy (Susie) Harness, Brian Harness; grandchildren Ashley Weber, Aaron (Kirsten) Weber, Tyler (Ally) Weber, Jennifer (Joel) Clark, Jessica Miller, Jordan Miller, Max (Amanda) Harness, Kyle Harness, Jack Harness, Mia Harness, Darian (Cortney) Harness, Cheyenne Harness, Myles Harness, Chad Harness Jr. (Megan), Corie Harness and many great grand children, nieces, nephews and very special friends.


Lester graduated from Hamilton Township High School Class of 1958. He was active in football, basketball and baseball. He always said those were the best days of his life. 


He was a proud Sailor in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Hammerberg where he was stationed in Rhode Island and served 4 years serving our great country. 


Shortly after leaving the Navy he worked for Seven Eleven as a manager, the gas company in Fairfax Virginia, owned his own local business in Columbus, Ohio called Tom and Les, and worked for several other businesses in the Columbus, Ohio area.


Once retired Lester enjoyed golfing, participating in the Home Owners Block Watch, Active in the Home Owners Association in his community, Columbus Police Citizen Academy and Moose Lodge. 

He enjoyed playing his guitar, going to Bible Study and the Ohio State Buckeyes. 


Lester’s wishes were not to have calling hours or funeral service.
