On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Linda Kay Mullen, loving partner and mother of two, passed away at age sixty-eight. Linda earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and 2 Master's Degrees one College Student Personnel Guidance and Counseling the other was an MBA. She spent 16 years working in Sales at IBM followed by 12 years in Executive Recruiting in IT at Fifth Third Bank, with periods of working part time so she could do her favorite job of being a Mom. Her dependability, loyalty and optimism was evident in all that she did, whether she was briefing bank executives, or sitting in the front row for basketball games and dance competitions.
From a young age, Linda had a love and proficiency for classical music and playing the piano. Anytime she would hear a song, she would instantly name the song and composer, closing her eyes and rhythmically moving her fingers on an imaginary piano. Although, one might argue that her great music love was David Bowie. So many of her memories with friends and family are set to his music.
Later she fell in love with ice skating, dazzling the crowds of BGSU between periods of hockey games and particularly impressing her future husband, Jim. After a few years of dating, they married at the United Methodist Church in Cleveland Hts, OH. Daughter, Kelly, and son, Patrick, arrived 9 and 12 years later respectively.
Her greatest pride was seeing her children's success, absolutely beaming as she saw Kelly clogging on the stage of Carnegie Hall or Patrick being crowned Mr. Butler. She showed up for every game, practice, and competition, no matter the size to ensure her support was always felt. Later that pride and adoration extended to her grandchildren, Isabella and Cal, who referred to her as 'Abu'.
Linda was best known for her strength and selflessness . She is survived by her husband, Jim, and their children. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 15, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH 43065. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to the MPN Research Foundation at MPNresearchfoundation.org.
