Lois Ann Travis, 88, left for heaven March 1, 2023 after a long hard battle with Dementia.
Lois was born in Cherokee KY on July 21, 1934 to Bertha May. Lois remained with her maternal Grandparents for the first 5 years of her life and stayed very close with her Kentucky family over the years. She joined her newly married mother in Columbus Ohio and was adopted by her father, Homer Hays. Lois became a big sister to 4 girls and 1 boy, Joellen Blankenship [Clifford], Maryland Diamond [Kenny], Hester Spalsino [Mike], Cecilia Windland [Virgil] and Danny Hays [Kathy].
Lois had two children by her first marriage, Robert Lee Travis [Rita] and Pamela S. Ivery. Her first marriage did not survive but Lois went on to marry John Paul Travis on June 9, 1960 who adopted both children. Lois was married to John for 46 years until his death in August of 2006.
Lois began a career as a Secretary for PERS [Public Employees Retirement System] pausing to spend more time raising her children and She served as a Campfire Girl Leader as well as a Cub Scout Leader. When she returned to the workforce she became an Executive Secretary for Gates McDonald from where she retired. Lois was very creative. She loved knitting, cross stitch, baking and especially bowling with her friends. She had many dear and very beloved friends. She bowled on Teams well into her senior years. In fact through bowling she met her beloved partner, John Muncie, with whom she shared life and love until his death at 93 years old in 2021. Lois loved playing cards and was a faithful member of many Card Clubs with her friends. Lois served on the Doctors West Hospital Guild and enjoyed volunteering. She loved traveling and ventured out on many road trips with her loved ones and friends. Her favorite place was Nags Head NC.
In the past few years she became obsessed with her cat, Cosmo and they spent many hours enjoying each other's company. Lois was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert, just 33 days before her own passing.
Memorial Service Monday, March 20, 2023 at 6pm with gathering one hour prior at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
