Lori Annette (Cutlip) Nesser (1965-2024)
Lori didn’t know a stranger, mothered every child who entered her home, rescued cats like a kid collects toys, and found her comfort in music and God. Lori Annette Nesser, 59, of Columbus, Ohio, died September 3rd, after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Columbus in 1965 to Joesph Cutlip and Caroletta Brown-Cutlip. She attended Franklin Heights High School, where she was a member of the drill team, before working for Nationwide Insurance. She loved her time as a Falcon, and has kept in contact with friends made there for years to come. While disabling injuries removed her from the work force young, she never stopped working, either through PTO, babysitting, and more.
After marrying her husband Dan, in 1986, Lori found her heart in her two daughters, Danielle Annette and Samantha Jo. As a family, they loved sports, camping, and most of all music. Lori relished in raising her daughters and she made her home a safe haven for so many of her daughter’s friends over the years.
Sadly, Lori’s youngest daughter, Samantha, suffered a TBI due to concussions from her sports career when she was a teen. When this changed Sam’s life, Lori became Sam’s caregiver, advocate, supporter, and teacher. She helped Sam navigate relearning so many things, graduate high school, and prepare/ deliver her testimony of HB 143 which she saw Sam sign less than a year before Sam passed away due to complications from the injury.
Lori’s eldest daughter Danielle gave Lori someone to explore dreams of her own with, from attending and graduating college, getting her master’s degree, becoming a teacher, and traveling. The greatest gift Danielle ever gave Lori, was her precious grandchildren.
Silly Grandma Lori’s biggest source of joy in life came from her grandchildren; Lucas, Madeleine, and Logan. Her grandson Landon, who made her a grandma, greeted her in heaven. Lori treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their silly Grandma Lori or Lolo, never failing to spoil the kids, cheer them on in their sports, or the Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve traditions.
Lori will always be remembered for her heart, and the way that she always had a prayer or story to share- usually both.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Caroletta, her siblings Tre, Jeff, Billy, and Ted, her daughter Samantha, her grandson Landon, and her husband Dan.
She is survived by her daughter Danielle (Aaron), her grandchildren Lucas, Madeleine, and Logan, her sister Cindy, her friends including Cheryl, the Louise to her Thelma, countless nieces and nephews, and countless surrogate children who entered her heart as a friend of her children, and stayed as one of her own.
Lori’s family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the staff at Arbors West, who took such great care of Lori at the end of life and put up with all of her antics while she was still able to have fun.
Lori’s graveside service will be on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Donations in her honor could be made to the Traumatic Brain Injury Association of Ohio, PANCAN, or NILMDTS, as each organization had a big part of Lori’s life.
