He was born on December 3, 1948 in Columbia, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis LeConte Gibbes Sr. and Blanche (Cudd) Gibbes, sister, JaneAlan Kapp.
Surviving family includes loving wife, Lynn Thomas Gibbes, son, Louis LeConte Gibbes III, stepchildren, Rebecca Thomas, Jason (Sue Ellen Mault) Thomas, sisters, Leila (Kit) Williams, Elizabeth (John) deLoach, brother, George (Ethel) Gibbes, brother-in-law, Lloyd Kapp and nine nieces and nephews.
LeConte had decided in lieu of heaven, he will be at the beach. He loved Pawleys Island more than any place in the world.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine (Columbia).
Private services will be held at a later date.
