Luther S. Havens, 73, of Minerva Park, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2006, at St.Ann's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Sheldon B. and Helen A. (Yonce) Havens, Luther is preceded in death by his son, Bryan Havens. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eva (Kegley) Havens; daughter, Kathy (Ed) Norris; son, Pete (Cathi) Havens; sister, Elsie Stephens; grandchild, Breanne Havens. Luther was employed by Hobby Lobby and formerly employed by Flying Eagle Furniture. Luther was a member of the Greater Columbus Dahlia Society and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who enjoyed his unique wit and homespun wisdom. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH. from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Graveside service will be conducted on Friday, January 5 at 10:00 AM at Blendon Central Cemetery, 8340 Hempstead Road, Westerville, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 2225 City Gate Drive, Columbus, OH. 43219.
