Maria del Rosario "Chala" Lopez, 76, passed away on November 20, 2021. She was born on October 6, 1945 in Alamo, TX. Surviving family includes, husband, Erasmo G. Lopez, Sr., children, Erasmo G. Lopez, Jr., Rebecca (Kevin) Cuozzo, grandchildren, Livingston Taylor Lopez, John Robert Cuozzo, Maria Ann Cuozzo, Andaria Renee Lopez, siblings, Rogelio Garza (Alice - deceased), Mariano Garza Jr (Amendina), Maria del Refugio 'Cookie' DeLeon (Gilbert), Artemio Garza (Diane), Ramiro Garza (Diana), Ruben Garza (Estella), Roel Garza and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Mariano Garza and Hermila E. Garza. Also preceded in death by in-laws, Francisco Lopez, Dolores Lopez, Hector Lopez, Alice Garza, San Juanita Lopez, Millie Lopez, Delphi Lopez, nieces, Theresa Alba, Lisa Lopez.
Maria was born and raised in Alamo, TX. She was the 2nd oldest of 8 children. She moved to Ohio when she married her husband Erasmo G. Lopez Sr. She missed her mom and dad and siblings dearly but made a life for herself and her family in Ohio. She was a homemaker until her children were school age, at which time she started working for the Port Clinton City School District, where she worked for 16 years, retiring in 1993. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church in Port Clinton, OH for 46 years until moving to Powell, OH in which she became a parishioner at St Joan of Arc Church. She was a proud mom and grandmother and a devoted wife, recently celebrating 52 years of marriage. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for her family and friends. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with her husband. They did everything together and were always by each other's side. She was a dedicated mother to her children. They were her world and she would do anything for them. She cherished her time with her grandchildren; attending their activities including sports, band, and dance recitals. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, OH 43065.
Additional visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 9:30am-10:30am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell, OH 43065, where a Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am.
Memorial donations may be directed to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
