Marian A. Flaherty, of Columbus was born in Allentown, Pa. on July 7, 1927 and departed this life on Saturday, July 4, 2015, 3 days shy of her 88th birthday. She is survived by her husband Richard; her brother-in-law Charles "Mickey" Flaherty; her sister Lillian Gunderman of Saylorsburg, PA; her children Jerry (Margo) Flaherty; Richard (Adele) Flaherty; Thomas Flaherty (Jeanne Philip) all of Columbus; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard (Angela) Flaherty of Seminole, FL; Barbara (Christopher) Kelly, currently stationed on Guam; Michelle (Maurice) Hairston, soon to be stationed in FL; and Molly Flaherty, of Columbus, recent graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School, soon to attend Baldwin Wallace University, in Berea, Ohio. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Christine & Richard Flaherty; Aurora & Sydney Kelly; and Ahleah & Nellie Hairston. A long-time resident of Hunterdon County, NJ., Marian was the owner-operator of a family restaurant called The Country Kitchen in Ringoes, NJ. When the family moved to Columbus in 1971, Marian was the owner/operator of two grocery stores - Pat's Market and the Hague & Steele Market, both on the Hilltop. Later she became a licensed real estate agent for Century 21 and later the head cashier for the grocery chain, Kash n Karry. Anyone who crossed her path was struck by the overwhelming warmth and love she exuded. She will be sorely missed by all and will never be forgotten. A private memorial service will be held in the near future for family and friends.
