Marilynn Ilene Coe

July 5, 1931 — August 1, 2024

Marilynn Ilene Coe, age 93, of Westerville, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Born on July 5, 1931 to Henry Frederick Young and Winnifred Florence Parker Young, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Gerald Fleming Coe, brother Charles Parker Young; sisters Dorothea Gill and Florence Emma (Sem) Nafzger; and sons Steven and Daniel Coe.

Marilynn married the love of her life, Gerald, on September 30, 1951. They were just a month shy of celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary when Gerald passed, and they shared a long, wonderful life together. She is survived by daughter Cindy Coe of Centerburg, Ohio. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, special niece and nephew-in-law, Patty and Larry Isch.

After graduating from Westerville High School in 1950 and getting married, she joined Gerald at Camp Polk, Louisiana where he served in the Army National Guard. Marilynn loved spending time caring for their home and raising their family on their little ten-acre farm in northern Delaware County. She enjoyed participating in a Westerville women’s bowling league for many years and co-founded the Westerville High School Class of 1950 “Lunch Bunch” and was involved in that group for some 50 years, until the fall of 2023 with her beloved classmates. She loved sewing, cooking and reading but mostly spending time with Gerald.

She was always so proud of her grandfather, Isaac Young, having founded Young’s Dairy in Linden where she had many happy memories with her family.

Marilynn will be dearly missed by family and friends. “Together for life, together for eternity”, as she is reunited with her sweetheart after a long year apart.

A combined memorial service will be held for both Gerald and Marilynn at a later date for immediate family. Interment will be at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Westerville.
