Mark Wayne Ater

Mark Wayne Ater, age 57, passed away on February 1, 2022. He was born on May 3, 1964 to the late Opal (Lee) and Floyd Ater in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Mark was a 1982 graduate of Adena High School. He loved sports and had just obtained his groomers license to help his buddy Tracy raise and train horses. Mark enjoyed working and spent 21 years as a meat cutter for Big Bear, then over 13 years for the State of Ohio (CCI). Mark had many friends and family who cared deeply for him, none quite as special as "Uncle" Jerry Lee and life-long buddy and partner in crime Danny Rutherford.

Mark was married for 35 years to his wife and soul-mate, Shannon K. Ater of Frankfort, Ohio. He is also survived by his sons, Brock W. Ater of Chillicothe, Ohio, Cody B. Ater of Frankfort, Ohio, Brandon Adkins of Frankfort, Ohio; brother, Ronald (Carol) Ater of Frankfort, Ohio. Mark was also preceded by his in-laws, Bob and Kaye Morris.

In keeping with Mark's wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration for Mark will be held at a later date.
