Mark J. Terrell

June 24, 1953 — June 29, 2020

Mark Julius Terrell, born June 24, 1953, passed June 29, 2020 at the age of 67.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Terrell (married 47 years); children, Doris (Roger) Atkinson, Joseph Terrell, Amanda Davis and Mark (Beth) Terrell, Jr.; grandchildren, Ezekiel, Melody, Harmony and Ephraim Atkinson, Calob, Mariah, and Noland Terrell, Charity, Liberty, Samantha and Benjamin Davis and Duncan, Lily-Jo and Maxx Terrell; sisters, Carolyn Douglas, Maurine Curtin, Waneta Allen, Maxine Allen, Janet Bowmen and Deborah Brady; brother, James Terrell; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ottie Terrell and Aretta Higgins; brothers, Bill, Robert and Gary Terrell; sister, Virginia Brown; son, Stephen Terrell; and son-in-law, Eric Davis.

Mark was the youngest of 23 children through his father Ottie's 3 marriages. (He enjoyed the shock this caused other people. He had 11 full siblings.) The sheer size of his family lead to a love for family history. He would spend countless hours working on it. He passed his love for genealogy onto his granddaughter, Melody. He shared this information with anyone who requested it and helped many trace their family lines throughout the years. He was our family historian.

Mark was a hard worker his entire life. He served 21 years in the United States Army, retiring with full benefits. He then had another career as an IT professional for several companies in Ohio, retiring from Liebert Corp.

Even after retirement he was still our IT guy. He helped family and friends countless times with computer repairs and programming issues. He was always our go to with electronics. Mark was also an artist.

He painted murals on the walls in a childcare center while stationed in Germany as a young father. He painted several on the walls of his own home over the years bringing beauty to those that entered it.

He loved woodworking, refurbishing furniture, building birdhouses, and making wooden plaques. Most of his waking hours after retirement you could find him at his work bench in his garage working on any number of craft projects he had going on.

Even when he was in pain , he still wanted to work. Mark was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was kind to everyone and would go out of his way to help others. He was the person that people went to for help figure out how things work and to get things fixed.

His passing leave a huge hole in the lives of those that love him. He will be missed by all.
