After sixty-nine years of a life well lived, Mark C. Zetwick left this world on March 29, 2025. He was born to Rodney "Boots" and Marlene (Larson) Zetwick on March 20, 1956 in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, raised in Ashtabula, Ohio where he attended Saint John School, and lived most of his adult life in Grove City, Ohio.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. He married his wife of nearly 45 years, Cynthia (Fertig), on April 12, 1980 in Jefferson, Ohio. Together, they raised their daughters, Jennifer Diamond and Jessica Zetwick-Skryzhynskyy. No man could love his wife more or be a better father to his girls. He was a provider and protector, who worked long hours to support his family and fearlessly chased away the monsters (both real and imagined). A gentle giant, he gave bear hugs that left the recipient feeling overwhelming love and safety. He had an infectious smile and laugh.
Mark was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He graduated from Youngstown State University, where he played defensive tackle for the Penguins. Basketball was his favorite sport to play and watch. He enjoyed coaching his daughters and dozens of young people to play soccer with GCKA. He also enjoyed martial arts, becoming a black belt in Aikido, and boxing later in life.
Mark believed that every person has dignity and is deserving of love and respect. Family and friends could always count on his help, whether that meant lending a sympathetic ear or charging to the rescue. Strangers knew Mark as a man who helped them change a flat tire or gave them money even when he had little of his own.
If we had another fifty years with him, we would still say Mark was gone too soon. We know, though, that his big heart and his love will live on in his family and friends and multiply with his four grandchildren, Abby, Sofya, Dmitry, and Sergey.
Mark is survived by his wife Cynthia (Fertig), daughters Jennifer Diamond and Jessica Zetwick-Skryzhynskyy (Andrey), grandchildren, brother Timothy (Mary Lynn) and sister Cheryl (Gale) Graves, mother and father-in-law, and countless other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Charles Robert Diamond, Jr.
