Martha Jean Massie, born on November 24, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2024. A beloved figure in her community and family, Martha is remembered for her adventurous spirit, her devotion as a wife, and her unwavering love as a mother and grandmother.
Martha was a proud graduate of White Hall High School, class of 1960. She dedicated a significant portion of her career to working at South Western City Schools, where she left an imprint on many lives through her commitment to education and service. Her life was enriched by her role as a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment.
An avid traveler, Martha embraced life with a sense of adventure that inspired those around her. She cherished the moments spent with family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by her loved ones for years to come.
Martha is survived by her devoted husband, George Massie, and her grandchildren: Christopher (Sarah) Massie, Andrew (Kathryn) Massie, Aubrey Massie, Emma Massie, and Olivia (Tyler) Jarzyk . Additionally, she leaves behind her great-grandchildren—Emma, Peyton, Allyson, LilyAnn, and Tanner—as well as her brothers-in-law, James (Judith) Massie and Michael Massie.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Houck, and her beloved sons, Mathew Massie and Michael Massie, who undoubtedly hold a special place in the hearts of those she has left behind.
Martha Jean Massie's legacy will continue through her family, whose lives have been profoundly shaped by her love, values, and unforgettable spirit. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
