Martin Ashley

December 18, 1938 — April 12, 2023

On April 12, 2023, Martin Ashley ascended peacefully to heaven, reuniting with his beloved wife, Jeannie.

Martin always looked forward to a great game of golf, or watching the Michigan State Spartans play football and basketball. He was strong in his faith and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clyde, Ohio.

Born on December 18, 1938 in Muskegon, Michigan, Martin was a dedicated scholar and trumpet player, always willing to play for any visitor. He received a scholarship from the University of Denver to play in the school marching band, but longing for his home state of Michigan, Martin returned and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from MSU. A true believer in hard work, Martin labored during summers on celery farms to pay for his schooling. Having a passion for education, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he received a masters degree from The Ohio State University.

Martin held many professions, but he was most proud of his work as an educator. He influenced many young lives through his work with the Michigan Youth Commission of Education, and as the founder of Pscheticin High School in Columbus, Ohio. Anyone who was close to Martin knew he was passionate about his values and always trying to help build a better future.

Martin was preceded in death by Jeannie Ashley (Krauss) his wife of almost thirty years, and his great grandson, Noah. He is survived by his two sister, Susan and Jackie, and children Timothy (Charlene), Todd, Thomas (Lori), and Tracy Tatum, as well as his step-children Jennifer Wilbur (Don), Mark (Deb), and Todd Messcar (Jackie). His grandchildren Nicole Hines (Matt), Megan Grossman (Nick), Kyle Tatum (Cheyenne), Dane Welty, Brittany and Payton Ashley, as well as, his great granddaughters Lucy, Emma, Abigail, Kylee, and Hannah.

A celebration of life will take place April 22, 2023 at 2pm @ the residence of Nicole Hines, 4920 Silo Ct Hilliard, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to All Saints Lutheran Church, www.Saintsonhigh.org.

The family of Martin wishes to thank the staff of Kensington Assistant Living for all they did for Martin.
