Mary F. Tolbard, age 86, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on April 18, 1928, in Columbus, to the late John and Ada Hemphill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter "Ruffie" Hemphill, Ernest Hemphill and Woodrow "Woody" Hemphill; and sister, Nina Patterson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank Tolbard; son, Steve Tolbard of Westerville; daughter, Mindy Tinsky of Columbus; grandchildren, Trevor Tinsky and Aubrie (Bryan) Hasselbusch; sisters, Joann Delay and Barbara Moorhead; and numerous nieces, nephews, special neighbors and friends.
Mary was a founding member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, now known as The Church at Polaris, where she was still a very active member. She retired from Columbus City Schools after many years of service as a special-needs bus driver, where she held a record for accident-free driving. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 am at The Church at Polaris, 1250 Gemini Place, Columbus, Ohio 43240 with Pastor John Taranto officiating. Friends and family will gather from 4:30-7:30 pm on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
