Mary J. (Joan) Lindsey, 92, a resident of Columbus her entire adult life, passed away April 21, 2023. She was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on November 12, 1930, to the late Henry and Bernice (Ryckman) Kuhle. She is proceeded in death by her brothers Marc and William Kuhle and by her daughter, Diana Ceciliani. Surviving family includes five children (Laura Knipmeyer, David Clark, Brenda Minnema, Steven Clark, and Barbara Rollison), ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren (David Dillow, Nicholas Ceciliani and his son Callum, Valerie Patton and her daughter Mindy Lou, Mackenzie Mathess and her sons Owen and Asher, Max Clark and his son Caius, Joshua Ceciliani, Benjamin Rollison, Lance Rollison, Blake Rollison, and Lucas Rollison).
Joan lived in Birmingham, Alabama as a teenager and in her early college years, later moving to Lima, Ohio, where she met and married Lawrence Leroy Clark, Jr. She completed a degree in teaching which was to become her life's work of over fifty years. She served children in the Columbus Public Schools as a special education and home instruction teacher. For over fifteen years, on weekends, she also assisted the medical team at the Ohio State University neonatal care unit.
Joan loved her family and enjoyed traveling the world to see them (three daughters were actively serving in the US Air Force). In addition to her devotion to her family, Joan had tender compassion and love for animals (especially cats) and was a generous giver to multiple charitable organizations. She was a life-long learner, encourager, and friend to all…she never met a stranger.
