She was born in Columbus, OH on January 1, 1942 to the late Clarence and Dorothy (Allender) Sowers.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, John Michael Schellhaas; brothers, Edward and Charles Sowers; sister, Myrtle (Sowers) Salts; and beloved dog Gretel.
Surviving family includes daughters, Kathleen (Schellhaas) Flores, Karin (Schellhaas) and Bill Shelpman; sister, Linda (Sowers) Leeson; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
