Mary E. Starks

Mary E. Starks, age 79, of Columbus passed away on August 28, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Russell and Eva Weatherspoon; sister, Elouise Holman and grandson, Christopher Russell.

She is survived by her sister, Lilly Guice; children: Steven Russell, Pamela Russell and Lynette Russell; grandchildren: Steven Sanders, Sycou` Russell, Shaunikqua Merchant, Anthony Merchant Jr., Christopher Russell, Stephanie Russell, Reuben Russell, Mayleesha Johnson, Stepphen Russell, Shayla Easley and Jewelline Moore; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Mary was a faithful member of Oakley Baptist Church for over 30 years. She ushered and organized all of the events for her church. She retired from Columbus Developmental Center in 1996, after 31 years of service. Mary was a great person to everyone, never met a stranger and was loved my many.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest, 3393 Broadway. Burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad Street. Pallbearers will be John Robinson Jr., Stepphen Russell, Reuben Russell, Sean Breckenridge and Steven Russell.
