Mary "Tina" Waldo

August 13, 1945 — November 28, 2024

Mary "Tina" Waldo, born on August 13, 1945, in Williamson, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Tina was a devoted family woman who embraced life with a spirited joy that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Tina dedicated many years of her career to Polo Ralph Lauren before retiring from OPERS. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all her endeavors. Beyond her professional life, Tina was known for her vibrant personality. Her sense of humor was infectious, and in her later years, she became notably spicy, bringing laughter and light to those around her.

A passionate animal lover, Tina had a deep affection for all creatures, spending her time caring for them with the same tenderness she showed to her family. Her love extended to the people in her life, particularly her daughter, Trina, who cherishes the memories of attending concerts together, eagerly trying their luck at winning tickets through WCOL. Music, especially country and Elvis Presley, held a special place in Tina’s heart, providing the soundtrack for many priceless family moments.

Tina had a huge sweet tooth, often delighting in fresh chocolate chip cookies made daily by her son-in-law, a testament to the little joys she treasured in life. Family vacations to South Carolina were among her favorite experiences, where she created lasting memories with her loved ones.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Waldo, daughter Trina (Mark) Everts, and her favorite grandson, Aaron (Megan) Everts, who brought her immense pride and happiness. Tina’s legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.

Tina was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Ooten, mother, Flora Ooten, and son, Chris Waldo. As we remember her life, we celebrate a woman whose spirit, humor, and unwavering love for her family will remain forever in our hearts.

The family is holding private family services at a later date.
