Matthew Smith, 60, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Westerville, Ohio. Matthew was born on October 3, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio to John and Patricia (Hunter) Smith.
Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Christopher Smith, daughter, Veronica Smith.
He is survived by son, Jacob Smith, brother, Patrick Smith, and many family and friends.
Matthew was a dedicated part of the Big Walnut School District as a head custodian. He will be missed greatly by the community at large. He was an avid lover of baseball and a passionate fan of the New York Yankee's. Additionally, his Irish heritage was reflected in his love of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20th, from 4 to 6pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20th, at 6pm also at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to in Matthew's honor.
