Mavis Arlene Johnson was born in Columbus, Ohio, on February 5, 1955, and set out her journey through the cosmos on November 1, 2024.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Virginia Wright, and by her brothers, Thomas and James Wright. Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 32 years, Phillip Johnson, and her children, Gary Robbins and Lisa Robbins (Robert); sister, Beverly Taynor (Butch); all of Columbus, Ohio; nephew, Scott Thivener, niece, Stacy Thivener; grandchildren: Jeremy (Shiloh) Robbins, Hannah Robbins, Jason Kelly (Annie), Josh (Victoria) Kelly, Desiree Palmer (John), and nine great-grandchildren.
Mavis worked 22 years at the Ohio State School For the Blind, before sacrificing her career there in 1990 in order to accompany her military husband around the country on various assignments. In retirement, Mavis enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping, and classic movies. She loved the many pets she cared for over the years. She volunteered as a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army at Christmas, and she was a poll-worker at election time. She was always doing and giving to help others. And nobody, but nobody, made better peanut brittle at Christmas!
