Melanie Irene Shiina, 67, Columbus, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Melanie was born in Charlotte, NC on August 22, 1943, to Clarence Everett and Dolly Irene (Coe) Blanton and is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Dolly (Curtis) Niles and Emiko Heil; son, Everett (Miho) Shiina; sisters, Anna Parish and Evelyn (Danny) George; grandchildren, Mikhala and Evan Heil, Sydney, Roderick and Olivia Niles and E.J. and Joseph Shiina; niece, nephew, cousin and friends at North Congregational United Church of Christ. Melanie taught and tutored English to students of many countries and ages. She loved children and lived a life of gladly helping those in need. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010, 3:00 PM at North Congregational United Church of Christ, 2040 Henderson Road, Columbus, OH 43220, with visitation to follow. Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH is honored to serve the Shiina family.
