Melvin Jack Tomlinson, 80, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Mel was born in Huntington, WV on July 1, 1932, to Robert K and Blanche "Ruud" Tomlinson and is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Nancy (Swiger) Tomlinson; second wife, Linda (Plumley) Tomlinson; 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughters, Debora Neel, Teresa (Jerry) Jones and Patricia Blair; sons, Melvin Tomlinson II, Kenneth Tomlinson and step-son, Jay Phillips; sister, Barbara Adkins; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. Mel was a veteran of the USMC, served in the Korean Conflict, was a POW and received the Purple Heart. Also, Mel was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 24 and retired from United McGill Corporation.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012, 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
