Mitchell
Melvin Daniel Mitchell was born June 4, 1937 to Marian F. Roberts and Ervin B. Mitchell. He went to the Heavenly Fathers Arms on Tuesday, April 13, 2011. Mel achieved much more than one expected. Mel joined the Marine Corp. with honors, became an artist, gourmet cook, fashion designer, set designer, actor and a great dancer. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1985. Mel, whom preferred to be called in his professional and social life was a special person to those who have known him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nannie B. Fuller and Frank Roberts; paternal grandparents, Curley Brewster and John Mitchell; brother, Ervin F. Mitchell; sister, Charlita E. Brown, and long time companion, Theodore Jon "Stix" Levingston. Mel leaves to cherish his memory and love his son, Terrance S. Mitchell; siblings, Marie Mitchell, Annette Reese, Kevin (Phyllis) Viney, Laurence (Eleanor) Viney and Curtis Mitchell; aunt, Thelma Mitchell; niece Erin Matlock; guardian angels, Patsy and Chasity L.N. Viney; adopted son and daughter, David and Linda Wilson; loyal and blessed friends Craig and Renon Hulet and Leo Bendiven; many nephews, nieces, several grandchildren, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2011 from 11:00-12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Mel touched so many lives. He was an interesting loving, kind person. When Mel smiled he lit up the room and when dancing everyone paid attention.
