Merida "Jack" Nichols, 83, of Galena passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Country View of Sunbury. He was born September 25, 1926, in Durham, N.C., son of the late Johnson Nichols and Gladys Freeman Wetherington. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Cook and brother, James Wetherington. He served in the Army during WWII. Jack is survived by his wife, Hilde Ruhnau Nichols; sons, Gerald Nichols, Donald (Kathy) Nichols and Bruce (Cindy) Nichols; son-in-law, Hassell Cook; grandchildren, Jay, Christina, Sarah, Robert, Andy, Kristen, Josh and Dan; great grandchildren, Jayci, Joshua and William; brother, Harry (Speranza) Nichols. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, with the memorial service beginning at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tridia Hospice, 25000 Country Club Blvd. Ste. 255 N. Olmstead, OH 44070 or the Rural United Methodist Church, 5860 Cheshire Rd. Galena, OH 43021.
