Hendel
Michael Hendel, 80, of Powell, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the Laurels of Norworth. He was born September 22, 1927, in Transylvania, son of the late Georg and Sofia Baier Hendel. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by a brother, Georg Hendel and sister, Sofia Johrendt. He migrated to the United States in 1952. Michael was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Transylvania Saxons, 50-year member of the Germania Singing Society and the ODD Fellows Fraternal Organization. Michael was the owner of Hendel Construction Co. and developed several residential neighborhoods in and around Marysville. He was a founding member of the Union Co. Builders Association. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hannelore Mueller Hendel; son, Thomas (Marie) Hendel; daughters, Sylvia (Brent) Rosenthal and Linda Miller; sisters, Maria Hesch and Katharine Scholtes; grandchildren, Melanie and Erika Hendel, Rachel, Elise and Kirsten Rosenthal, Leana Miller, Angela Lewis and David Ballard; great grandchildren, David and Hayley Hendel, Justin, Aaron and Ashley Lewis and Chloe Ballard; several nieces and nephews in Central Ohio and numerous relatives in Germany. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2007 from 4-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home N.E. Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10 am at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High St., Worthington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Central Ohio Chapter 3380 Tremont Road Columbus, Ohio 43221. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
