Michael Edward Hooper

Michael Hooper, age 66, of Columbus, Ohio took his final rest on Friday, February 11th, 2022.

Michael was born on November 5th, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Catherine & Albert, as one of five siblings. He was an avid outdoor adventurer, completing the Buckeye Trail, hiking, kayaking, boating, darts, and camping with his family. He enjoyed all festivals, but particularly the Jazz and Rib Fest and Comfest in Columbus, Ohio.

He worked for the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department for 39 years and completed many projects that have become integral pieces of Westerville. You can find his lasting presence in bricks spread across many of the sites. His family is so very proud of all his accomplishments. Michael was a bright light that brought lots of laughter to his friends and family.

He was married to his wife, Jody Hooper, for 34 years - together for 45. He will be missed dearly by his two sons, Jonathan Hooper (Courtney, Bastion, & Nora) and Nathanial Hooper (Amie & Joshlyn), his siblings Bruce (Lucy, Mariel, & Carolina), Suzanne (Ron, Laurie - Theo, Ayan & Adriel, & Rebecca), Wayne (Peggy, Sarah & Kelsey), Bonnie (Ben, Tovan & Jacoby), and his many friends that became family over his lifetime.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2022 from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus, Ohio.
