Michael A. Izzie, affectionately known as Izzie, was born on May 4, 1981, and unexpectedly departed from this world on November 7, 2024. His journey through life was one marked by a quiet strength and deep passions, encapsulated in his work as a dedicated auto mechanic at Wayne's Automotive in Westerville. Mike's talented hands not only fixed cars but also strummed the strings of his beloved electric guitar, a testament to his self-taught prowess and profound love for music.
Throughout his life, Mike stood as a lone wolf, introspective yet well-loved by all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. He found joy in the company of close friends and cherished moments, attending many concerts, including those of the Brit Floyd Band, where he immersed himself in the rhythms and melodies that filled his soul. Memories of laughter and camaraderie are painted in vivid hues, embodied in evenings spent sharing concert experiences and the uncomplicated joy of playing with RC cars and trucks alongside his father, Ralph Izzie.
A man of many interests, Mike's legacy extends beyond mechanics and music. His talent for building intricate model kits, whether crafted from wood or metal, mirrored his meticulous approach to life. He was an avid gamer, relishing the tactical excitement of Call of Duty and the cerebral challenges presented by mystery and escape video games. These pursuits offered glimpses into a personality imbued with creativity and a passion for discovery. Mike had a variety of guns, and enjoyed shooting those at gun ranges and on properties. He had a passion for baking bread, grilling out and trying new recipes.
Mike received his education from Westerville North High School and the Career Academy for HVAC, receiving multiple automotive certifications throughout his career. Each accomplishment was not merely a testament to his skills as a mechanic but reflected his unwavering dedication and desire for self-improvement.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Boekhoff Izzie, and his beloved grandparents—Anthony and Ann Izzie, alongside Ernest and Mary Boekhoff. He will be sadly missed by his dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
