Michael L. Towns, Sr.
February 28, 1951 — August 16, 2023
Michael L Towns, Sr was born on February 28, 1951 in Columbus, OH. He was born to the late Raymond Towns and Phylis Brinson-Smith. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Mount Carmel East Hospital.
Michael was a proud veteran who served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He battled a long fight living with Multiple Sclerosis however he faced every adversity like a warrior and a champ with his great sense of humor.
Michael loved his family and they always came first in his life, their needs and well-being. Everyone knew him to be a dedicated father, independent thinker, and a left handed artist. His favorite pastimes included watching animal discovery, crime and trivia shows; bowling; fishing and writing poems.
He is preceded in death by father Raymond Towns, mother Phylis Brinson-Smith, sister Sandy Burton and brother Phillip Goins.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Carolyn; daughter Dionne; son Michael (Cristina); bonus son Anthony (Jackie); brother Jerry (Deborah); sisters Sheryl, Mary & Deborah (Larry); grandchildren Almonique, Rakia, Tony Jr, Destiny, Nicholas, Xavier, Jaxton & Camryn; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives & friends.
Michael will be missed by all who loved him and had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 10:00 - 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH 43231. Burial will take place at Dayton National Cemetery on Friday, August 25th, at 10:00 am.
